  1. On Thursday, I commented on a blog from Obsdale School in the Highlands of Scotland that I found on the International Edublogs Directory. Here is what I wrote on their blog:

    Hello Obsdale!
My name is Mrs. Schmidt and I teach 3rd grade (ages 8-9) at St. Ignatius of Antioch School, a Catholic school in Pennsylvania, USA. That is a beautiful photo on your blog! Is that located in Scotland? Is it an old castle? Do you live in the country? We live in the suburbs, about 30 miles outside of the large city of Philadelphia. Our school goes from PreSchool to 8th grade and we have 230 students in all. We have one of each grade level and there are 19 students in my classroom this year. We wear uniforms to school. Do you? Our school year goes from September to June and our school day is from 8:30 AM – 3:15 PM. It is Fall for us right now so the weather is getting cooler. Most days it is in the 70’s F. We just created a blog a few weeks ago. You can find it at http://mrstinaschmidt.edublogs.org/ You can visit it to see what we are learning in our classroom this year. We would like to learn more about your and your school. Hope you leave us a comment on our blog telling us more about you!

They answered back on their own blog. This is what they said:

    Hello Mrs Schmidt!
I am in a P7 class with P6’s and P5’s to, with a total of 23 in our class. Are school is in a smal town called Alness which is up at the North of Scotland. Yes it is located from Scotland, it is a hill with a monument on it, its called Fyrish and its about 10 minutes away from Alness, so its really nice to take walks up it, once you get to the very top you can see over all the over towns that are near us! I would’nt say that we live in the country, but we do have some beautiful country near us! We have a nursery and goes up to P7 and then we leave to go to Academy! Yes we wear uniforms, but not everyone chooses to wear them. Our school year goes from August to July, and our school day is 9:00am – 3:00pm (but 2:30pm for the people below P4!)!. Its fall for us right now aswell, but we don’t call it ‘fall’ here, we call it Autumn! We just created our blog last week i think to! We’ll have more updates on our blog soon i hope! And we would like to learn more about your school aswell!
    Hoep you comment back!

So what should we blog back? What questions do you have about Scotland? They did visit our site because we now have a dot on the United Kingdom. How exciting!

  2. Hello Mrs. Schmidt and the St. Ignatius 3rd grade class. I am in London, England this week and I hope it shows up on the visitor map. Mateo had asked that I visit 3rd grade visitor page. My hotel is located near Tower Bridge and the Financial District. There is a wall near the hotel that was built by the Romans during their occupation of England that dates back more than 1000 years ago!

I’ll make sure to check into the map next time I travel abroad.

    Have a great day!

    Mr. (Alex) Blanco

  3. A digreydoo is some thing you breath out with your mouth and breath in with your nose. And that animal you see on the front page us called a bearded gragen.

  4. Hello Mrs. Schmidt and the 3rd grade class,

  5. Hi class,
If you look at your map, you’ll see that Michael’s aunt checked out your blog. She lives in Cologne, Germany. She says “Guten Tag” (this means, “hi” in German) and she says, “Das ist toll!” (that means she thinks your blog is great!)

  6. Your blog is great, third grade! It is fun to see all of the activities that you have been doing in class and all of the visitors that you are getting from around the world!

  7. This blog is great !!!!!!!!!!!!!! The more we add to
it the better!!!!! I’ll tell my cousins about this great
    blog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. My name is Dagmar, I am a friend of Michael’s grandmother and also of his parents.
To Michael, his teacher and classmates best greetings and wishes from Berlin.

Berlin is the capital of the Federal Republic of Germany. Berlin is the largest city in Germany and second largest in the European Union (EU).
London, the capital of England and the United Kingdom (UK) is the largest in the EU.
Many countries of the European Union have the same currency. The banknote is called Euro and the coins are called cents. Michael may still have some Euro’s from his trip to Germany and France last summer.

Class, do you know how many countries are a member of the EU? The answer is 27. The EU has also a flag. It is blue with a circle of 12 golden stars.
Have fun in learning about the world

It was a great pleasure for me to look at all your pictures and to learn about activities.

  9. Hi Mrs. Schmidt and the Boys and Girls in 3rd Grade,

Your blog is awesome! It is great seeing all that you are learning and I can’t wait to see what you post next! I also wanted to give you a message from a friend. Julia says Hi and asked me to tell you that she misses you! She’s going to send you her email address so you can keep in touch! Keep up the good work, I’m proud of you!

  10. Hello Mrs. Schmidt and the St. Ignatius 3rd grade class. I am in Colorado Springs, Colorado this week. Once again, Mateo has asked me to visit the site. I checked in on the visitor map when I landed in Chicago, Illinois and checked the visitor map when I landed in Colorado Springs. Hopefully, both dots show up on the map. Colorado Springs is a beautiful city that offers many outdoor activities: such as biking, hiking and skiing. It’s elevation is almost 6,300 feet above sea level…that’s more than a mile up!

I hope you enjoy your day and I will visit the site next time I am traveling.

    Sincerely,

    Mr. Alex Blanco (Mateo’s dad)

  11. For the past weekend I visited the Nation’s Capitol Washington DC and stayed right across form the Capitol Building where Congress meets.

I also saw the White House, the Washington Monument, and the train station called Union Station. Washingtom DC is full of our Nation’s History-and can be reached in 2.5 hours by train!!

  12. Hello Mrs. Schmidt and the St.Ignatius 3rd grade class. Today I am in Cleveland, Ohio. Cleveland is a very nice city which is located on the shores of one of the Great Lakes in the United States. Do you know which one?

I’ll be visiting other cities in the next couple of weeks and will make sure that I check in while I am there.

    Have a great day!

    Sincerely,

    Mr. Alex Blanco (Mateo’s dad)
